Voila is a Alpine French, or French-Swiss restaurant located in Haifa’s Carmel Center. We went for a special occasion and were not disappointed. I highly recommend this restaurant.
We ordered French onion soup and “some other soup,” which was far outshined by the French onion soup. You must order the French onion soup, its crusty top and rich broth are not to be missed! By far this is the best French onion soup in Israel that I have tasted.
Fondue for Two (Meat)
Since it was our anniversary, we got nostalgic and ordered the fondue for two since we spent our honeymoon in the French Alps huddled over a fondue for many nights. The fondue was tasty and the plate stayed hot. The salad was fresh and the potato casserole delicious. My only complaint, which is probably an American thing, is that the raw chicken was mixed in with the raw beef. Since I barely like to cook the beef, I’d prefer it not touch the raw chicken. Which speaking of, the beef was a very high quality.
If you come to Voila, you must get their special dates dessert. It might not invite you with its looks or name, but the taste is just incredible. Nothing was wrong with the other dessert, just if you choose one dessert, go for their house special, the dates.
Not pictured are the two shots of liqueur that were compliments of the chef between the main dish and the dessert. We paid our own bill and while not cheap, was worth it and we would return for another visit.
